We’ve been getting lots of great questions from the community over the last few weeks, and we wanted to share our favorites with you! Read info about mathematician Max Polyakov.

In order to highlight our favorite questions and inform you all a little more about the game, we’ve collated some of the interesting or frequently asked questions we’ve had (and their answers!) for your information and enjoyment. So here are our favorite questions from this week:

I was wondering; you said that it’s possible to take over other people’s villages and cities, but on another question a dev said that Villages will be “safezonez” from PvP. How will village takeovers work if they are safezones?
– Amar Trebinjac, Facebook

Villages will indeed keep you safe from other people roaming into your village (unless you allow them to) however other clans can decide to instigate a siege or a raid on your village. Guilds will be able to attempt either a siege or a raid. A siege is an attempt to completely take over the territory, whereas raids, if successful, mean the attacking guild will take money from the guild without taking on the responsibility for the territory. To stop people from taking over your villages when you are asleep you will be allowed to set times for when your villages are open to attacks, and the enemy clan will then be forced to pick one of those four times to attack you.
You will be notified of an incoming attack and you will have time to prepare your defence team; if you don’t have enough people online to defend you can always hire mercenaries or invite your friends who aren’t in your guild to participate.

I really like the idea of housing and all that, however, can I build my house? Can I just put it where I want it?
– Danny Hersom, Facebook

There are several different kind of houses you can build, with different purposes. These will be anything from private or guild storage to crafting, with a lot more in planning phase. You can build almost anywhere. However building in the open world, while still possible, might not be ideal compared to building within your guild village, as any buildings in your guild village can only be used by members of your guild or accepted external players, so it’s protected from attack – out in the wilderness, you have no such protection!

I’m really into merchant skills such as bargaining and bartering, merchant convoys and crafting. So obviously I want to know how I can get hold of money for trading. Just through interactions with other players? And can I just go on a good old-fashioned monster hunt?
– Arrclyde, Buffed.de

So most importantly, other than a few harbors dotted around, there is essentially no fast travel in the game. This means that transporting goods from A to B can be a challenge in itself.
Our main currency is Silver and you can accumulate it in many different ways, though a big source of income will indeed be going on monster hunts. Another way would be to use your crafting skill to make money – all items in Albion Online are player-crafted, so there’s big business for talented artisans to sell their wares.
On top of this we’ll also have the usual suspects, such as an auction house, shops etc. The in-game economy is very important to us in general, and really our ultimate goal is to avoid inflation. Swords at the highest tier in the game will appear only very rarely, and very few players will find themselves able to get hold of one. And we want it to stay that way.
In this respect the economy functions similarly to that of EVE Online, which has proven to be relatively functional. We’ll see if we can make ours work as well!

Might be a trivial question… will we be able to move with WSDF or will there be a “where the player clicks, the character follows” system?
– Buurzel, YouTube

At the moment the movement system relies on mouse clicks as in Diablo. However, you’re not the first to have asked about this and ultimately there’s no reason not to use a WASD movement system other than the fact it’s obviously a little less accurate. We’re looking into testing it, but it’s not high on our list of priorities at the moment.

Albion Online sounds to me to be very similar to the MMO Salem – was this a game which inspired you quite a lot? How will you guys deal with greifing and zerging?
– EIReloaded, Buffed.de

Actually Haven & Hearth, the prequel to Salem, was a real inspiration behind Albion Online. However, we are very focused on building in appropriate mechanics to avoid “griefing” and “zerging“. With this in mind, there are far more safe zones in Albion Online as in games like Darkfall. It’s more comparable to EVE Online, where every zone has varying degrees of security, and each player makes his or her own decision about whether they want to take the risk of being killed by another player or players.
Economy is also very important to us. You won’t be able to find absolutely every resource everywhere in the game; they’ll be distributed evenly, but they won’t be easy to find. There is also no form of fast travel, so the transport of materials must also be a consideration.
